Drag and Drop (DnD) Options in CiteSmart
Drag
and Drop (DnD) is a convenient and fast way to perform certain tasks.
There are Four DnD options in CiteSmart.
1-
The RefDrag option:
This
allows you to drag a link from PubMed website directly into the list of
references (library content
panel). If the URL corresponding to the link is a valid
PubMed URL that points to an article, CiteSmart will load it and add
the corresonding reference to the library. The link can be accepted
from any web browser. This is one of the great CiteSmart features,
along with CiteClick &
RefClick.
2-
Drag an URL
The
difference between the RefDrag and this option is that RefDrag works
with a link, while with this option you can drag a string (a piece of
text). If this string is an URL, CiteSmart will load the reference.
3-
Drag a File
You
can also drag a file to the list of references. If this file is a
library for CiteSmart (with extension ".lcs"),
CiteSmart will load the library. If the file is a style file for
CiteSmart (with extension ".scs"),
CiteSmart will edit the style with the wizard. Otherwise, CiteSmart
will link the file to the reference on which the file is dropped. The
file can be any type of file: PDF, Word document, picture, word perfect
etc... This file can then be viewed by right clicking on the reference
and choosing "View Linked File".
4-
Drag a Reference to a Label
You
can drag a reference to a label in the label
tree. This will add a label to the reference. To remove a
label, for instance mylabel, right click
on the labeled reference and choose the option Remove
Label>mylabel.
The
list of references or library
content panel is pictured below.
5-
Drag a Reference to the Marked key
You
can drag a reference to the Marked key label
tree. This will temporarily mark the reference. To unmark the reference,
right click on the marked reference and choose the option Unmark.
